It is an ascetic and an artificial tourist spot

The artificiality of Times Square an be traced to Debord’s ideas of spectacle. This place, as well as our experience there are not real. Everything is mediated by spectacle which is just creating an alternative fake reality. This idea about Times Square is also connected to another one about that this plaza does not represent New York City, that there is a dislocation between those two places. I want to doing a series of cards linking both spaces. The front side of each card will have a particular (good or bad) feature of New York: the city is expensive, there is a housing problem, the issue with garbage… and the back side is an image of Times Square showing that situation.
